It is with enthusiastic pride, privilege and honor that I introduce myself as the new Superintendent of the Hinsdale Central School District. As I begin, I am humbled to start my next educational role as the leader of Bobcat Nation alongside each of you.
Family is extremely important to me, as I’m a proud husband and father. I would like to say thank you for welcoming us with open arms into the family of Hinsdale Central School. My beautiful wife, Maureen, also an educator, is a pre-kindergarten teacher in the Hornell City School District. We have three lovely children: Brennan, who is entering his Freshman year at Hornell High School, Owen, who is entering seventh grade at Hornell High School, and Margaret, who is beginning fourth grade in the fall.
Throughout the duration of my career, I’ve served in a variety of roles as a school counselor, athletic director, assistant principal, a middle and high school principal, along with learning the business side of education, as a school business official. It's evident through these experiences; the power of relationships with all constituents and key stakeholders is vital. I will immerse myself in the importance of active listening, always have an open door, and undoubtedly keep students at the center of every decision we make. Everything we do daily will revolve around student successes.
Having a successful pre-K through 12th grade educational experience is critical for all students. To achieve this, we will foster environments where students thrive academically, socially, and emotionally. I am committed to ensuring that all means all, and every student is versed with the knowledge, skills, and resilience to pursue their dreams to make an impact on today's ever changing global society. Excellence will not just be an aspiration, but an expectation for every child.
Partnership and collaboration between schools, families, and the community will be essential to district success. That's why in the coming months, I look forward to completing a 'needs assessment' by getting out into the community, being visible and accessible through listening sessions with students, staff, and community members. I look forward to meeting families, visiting classrooms, attending concerts, sporting events and honor society festivities. I am eager to listen, learn, and work together to build upon the district’s vision to make Hinsdale the premier rural school district.
These listening sessions will truly lay the groundwork for board and district goals and ultimately guide our future work regarding a strategic plan
I am ecstatic about the future of Hinsdale Central School District. Together, we will continue to grow a culture of excellence, empathy, and possibility. I look forward to allowing students the chance to become resilient, to fail forward, and connect learning to life beyond school.
To those I have had the privilege of meeting-thank you for the warm welcome. For those that I have not had the pleasure of meeting, I look forward to getting that opportunity in the weeks ahead and starting this meaningful work together.
