My son has been a Bobcat since his Pre-K year. I started as the school nurse here in January 2022. I have lived at my home in Hinsdale since 2009. I have 2 dogs and 2 cats. My journey to become a nurse began while I was still in high school and now I have been in the field for over 30 years. I first did homecare, worked in doctors' offices, joined the military and also worked in a hospital setting at the bedside doing acute care for many years. I also spent some time working in the operating room and concluded my hospital time at the surgery center in and out of a same day surgery/procedure room. I had loved taking care of people in all of those areas but also knew that I ready for something completely different. I have enjoyed taking care of all of our Bobcats and feel as though it's right where I belong! 💙

BMI Survey
Dear Parents/Guardians,
As part of a required school health examination a child is weighed and his/her height is measured. These numbers are used to figure out the body mass index or ‘BMI’. The BMI helps medical providers to know if the child’s weight is in a healthy range or if it is too high or too low. Recent changes to the New York State Education Law requires the BMI and weight status group be included as part of the school health examination.
A sample of school districts throughout New York State has been selected to take part in this survey and Hinsdale Central School has been selected. Information about our students’ weight status groups from the previous school year will be reported for students that were in grades Pre-K, K,1,3,5,7,9 and 11. Only summary information is sent. No specific or personal information about individual students is sent. The information sent to the New York State Department of Health can assist health officials to develop programs that make it easier for children to be healthier.
If you wish for your child’s weight status group information to be EXCLUDED in the survey this year, please inform the school nurse before December 1st.
Sincerely, Andrea L. Mallery, RN, Hinsdale CSD, Nurse
