Clubs

Archery Club

This group of students practices the skill of archery by target practicing. They participate in tournaments and competitions to hopefully advance to the national level. They have sent representatives to the National Tournament every year since 2013. This is offered to students in grades 4-12.

Basketball Club

Youth Basketball Club: Students in grades 3-6 practice after school once a week in the Spring to learn the fundamentals of basketball. Girls and boys will get to learn the rules of the game and scrimmage each other. Christine Goodling coaches grades 5 & 6 while Courtney Malia coaches grades 3 & 4.

Challenge 24

Sixteen students in grades 3-7 prepare all year to compete in the annual Challenge 24 Math competition at St. Bonaventure University on March 19th. These students worked together after school weekly throughout the year to improve their math and problem-solving skills in order to be competitive against other local schools. Challenge 24 requires students to use quick thinking to come up with solutions to math problems requiring addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division.

Cheer Club

 Cheer Club is one of the newest clubs here at Hinsdale Central School!  The cheerleaders learn proper arm movements, cheers, jumps, tumbling, and mounts.  If time permits, they can learn 8 counts for dance routines. Our cheerleaders perform at a character education assemblies and basketball games. 

Drama Club

This group participates in putting on plays, musicals, and variety shows for the school and community. It involves creating sets, learning and memorizing lines, and performing in front of an audience. This is offered to students in grades 7-12.

"Bored No More" Gaming Club

This group gets together to play classic and new board games, as well as strategy tabletop and card games. It is an opportunity to gather with friends, put away your phones, and experience the thrill of face-to-face "game night." This is offered to students in grades 7-12.

Girls on the Run

Girls On The Run is a club that offers programs designed to inspire girls of all abilities in grades 3-5 to recognize and embrace their inner strength while making meaningful connections with others. This club runs April through the first week of June with a 5K celebration at the University of Buffalo. Throughout the practices we use physical activities and discussions to build social, emotional, and physical skills while learning healthy habits for life.

Hiking Club

This group goes on hiking adventures throughout the year to local state parks, or walking trails to enjoy the nature that surrounds them. The end goal is to hike a high peak in the Adirondack Park at the end of the school year. This is offered to students in grades 9-12.

International Club

This group takes the opportunity to explore various cultures and international areas. It is offered to students in grades 9-12. Trips change each time and are not necessarily offered every year.

This group practices the art of lifting weights in the weight room. It teaches proper techniques as well as encourages the enjoyment of exercising. This is offered to students in grades 7-12.

Radiant Readers Book Club

This group practices the art and joy of reading-by-reading favorite stories to certified therapy dogs. It is a place to read with a group of people while enjoying the company of our canine friends. This is offered to students in all grades, students in grade 3 and under will need a responsible chaperone to attend with them.

Scholastic Challenge

This group brings out the inner trivia in you! In preparation for a regional competition, students answer a variety of academic and pop culture questions. Lots of fun and lots of new learning that will leave you thinking, "I never knew that!"

Ski Club

Enjoy winter weather? Like being outside? Then join HCS's Ski Club. Our Ski Club travels to Holiday Valley by bus one night a week during the winter months. Through Ski Club, you can select and purchase a discounted lift ticket for the entire season. You can bring your own equipment or choose to rent directly from Holiday Valley. Whether you choose to ski or snowboard, you are sure to have fun! This club is open to grades 7-12.

Soccer Club

Youth Soccer Club: Students in grades 4-6 practice after school twice a week in the Fall to learn the fundamentals of soccer. Girls and boys will get to learn the rules of the game and play against other teams on Saturday mornings. Christine Goodling and Jessica Taylor coach this club.

SPECTRUM Club

This student-led club is an all-inclusive group open to anyone and everyone. Students can voice their ideas, concerns, or personal views in a no-judgment safe space. This is offered to students in grades 7-12.

Student Council

Student Council is responsible for planning school activities and school dances. Each year students come up with goals to better their school and make it a great place to be. It is a great way to get involved and promote school spirit.
