S.U.N.Y. State University of New York

 

Of significant importance to students in New York State is the State University of New York system (SUNY). This diverse and large system of colleges offers NY students the opportunities and programs that equal or exceed private schools at a very affordable price to residents. The system consists of:

 

Four University Centers (4 Year Schools):

** Each enroll between 9,800-15,700 undergraduates and are research institutions. Each also has professional schools and doctoral programs.

 

**Generally tougher admissions requirements.

 

Thirteen University Colleges (4 Years Schools):

 

Thirteen university colleges, each enroll between 3,500 and 9,200 students. They are best categorized as liberal arts, augmented by some pre-professional programs.
